When to see a doctor
Questions, answered first
Why do my feet feel heavy by evening?
More blood, more fluid and more time on your feet - feet that feel heavy by evening and settle overnight are common from the second trimester. A ten-minute foot massage before bed is the ritual that helps most.
What eases puffy-feeling feet?
Elevate your feet when you can, stay hydrated, keep moving, and massage with a foot oil at night. Comfortable shoes help. If one foot swells much more than the other, or swelling comes with a headache or blurred vision, call your doctor.
When is swelling a doctor conversation?
Sudden swelling, swelling in one leg only, or puffiness with a headache, blurred vision or a swollen face needs a same-day call. Gentle, even, end-of-day puffiness in both feet is the common kind and eases overnight.
